There are infinities and the smallest is 4.
Unlike prime numbers, the compounds besides being divisible among themselves and 1 are divisible among others .
For example, the number 18 is composite because it has 6 divisors: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and 18:
18/1 = 18
18/2 = 9
18/3 = 6
18/6 = 3
18/9 = 2
18/18 = 1
Or, the number 24 is also because you can do the exact division with 8 numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 24:
24/1 = 24
24/2 = 12
24/3 = 8
24/4 = 6
24/6 = 4
24/8 = 3
24/12 = 2
24/24 = 1
